Our Summer Camp Mission Statement

We exist to change lives by creating opportunities in which people can experience the message of Jesus Christ within the context of interpersonal relationships, introspection, and memorable learning experiences.  

MCC specializes in summer youth camps with unique, challenging programming for 1st-12th graders. We offer two Day Camp Weeks for rising 1st -4th graders, three Junior Weeks for rising 4th-6th graders, three Middle Schools Weeks for rising 7th-9th graders, and one Teen Leadership Week for rising 10th through Graduating Seniors.mystery meal

History
Merriwood Christian Camp was founded in 1958 by Salem Baptist Church of Winston-Salem, North Carolina.  We are now celebrating our 50 year anniversary!  We have been running our own summer camp programming since about 1990.  

Location

We are located in Clemmons, North Carolina, 14 miles west of Winston-Salem and just 10 minutes off of I-40. The Merriwood facilities are beautifully situated on 66 acres, surrounded by tall pine trees, fresh air, and large meadows. 

Retreats

During the fall and spring, Merriwood is available to lease for retreats. We offer food service, housing, and facility use. Upon request, our staff can facilitate group initiatives and operate the Climbing Wall.

Staff

Currently, we have six, Year-Round Staff Members.  We have a Team Mentality.  Although we all have our specialized areas of ministry, we all assist each other with retreats, some grounds and facility work, and help make decisions together.

We hire an additional 20-25 summer staff members.  Although our main need is college-aged counselors, we also hire food service assistants, lifeguards, lawn care assistants, and people for our DVD production team.
