PAVED DRIVEWAY AND PARKING AREA

We would love to pave our drive way into camp as well as parking area. This would be more professional for campers and guests as they come onto our property. It would also help with drainage and water run-off, prevent pot holes, make snow plowing easier, keep us from having to purchase gravel repeatedly and resituate the gravel regularly. However, this is not a cheap project! We have gotten quotes over the $200K range. There are some options to do this incrementally in phases. Will you help us present ourselves more professionally?

NEW OFFICE SPACE

Since the 1990’s, MCC’s office has been located in the basement of the Camp Director’s home. With the addition of year-round staff over the years as well as triplicate in camper numbers since then, we have grown out of the current office space. MCC is looking to build a new Office Building.  This new Office building might also be able to include housing for summer staff and/or-year round staff.  Estimated cost is $250K.

ACTIVITY PAVILION MID-CAMP

MCC has a full-sized gymnasium as well as chapel space, but we are lacking an open air, large pavilion in the middle of camp that can be used for recreation time, skills classes, with option to add on connected bathrooms.  We have a proposed building cost of $200K.

UPDATED SITE PLANS, SEPTIC, NEW CABINS

Merriwood is in the process of updating site plans and looking at a long-term plan for the future.  Some of the needs we have in the future are new cabin buildings. The existing structures are over 50 years old and showing their age.  With the additional acreage MCC acquired in 2014, we have some more room to work with now for new building locations.  We plan to eventually have a capital campaign to help raise funds for this project.  We have already begun a line-item where funds can be donated to future cabin buildings.  A donation link is above if you are interested in this option.

NEW WATER ACTIVITIES ON LAKE

Our lakefront is more heavily used than every before.  MCC offers canoes, paddle boats, a blob, water Splash Track, and (as of 2025) a floating dock and jump tower, and lily pads and jousting ring. These additions have been so fun for campers as well as going along with our age-specific, advanced programming philosophy.
In the spring of 2016, we added bulkhead to the most heavily used side of the lake as well as built a fishing pier toward near the island, and that is now used as a fishing dock for our summer campers.  In the future, we hope to add a slide or zip line of sorts to the lake-front activities.  If you are interested in giving toward this the slide or zip line, please click the link above.

PRESSURE WASHING

MCC always has areas that need pressure washing. Our playground is one such area, as well as the outside of our motels. If you have abilities in this area, particularly in spring, before summer season begins, please contact MCC!

VARIOUS PROJECTS

There is always a project going on at MCC that volunteers could help with. If you or your group have abilities in raking, painting, splitting and stacking wood, picking up sticks, etc, we’d love for you to join us and come be involved!

OTHER NEEDS

  • New entry-way landscaping
  • Additional golf carts (and/or Gator)
  • Camp pickup truck
  • More gravel for our long driveway
  • Pea gravel for the amphitheater seating area
  • More sand for our volleyball court
  • More Eagle Scout Projects (or like projects)
